A month after her shows in Australia, singer and actress Reneé Rapp returned to the stage on 11 March in Antwerp, where she presented her latest album, 'Bite me'. Not even the rain or cold stopped fans from queuing to make sure they wouldn’t miss the opening show of the European leg. A crowd full of ties, shirts, stars, oversized leather jackets and merchandise filled the Lotto Arena, singing back every lyric at the top of their lungs.

At 21:00 the lights at the Lotto Arena turned off and anticipation built in the crowd, as the audience stood in front of a big red curtain saying ‘Bite Me’. It was at that moment that the screens lit up with a video showcasing Reneé’s acting skills, where she enacted an argument among several Reneés, serving as the perfect segue to her opening song, ‘Leave Me Alone’. The curtain then opened to reveal the singer standing in the middle of the stage, on top of a staircase, wearing a red t-shirt, black trousers, white boots and sunglasses. That was the start of one of the loudest concerts I’ve ever experienced, with a crowd who sang back every single word, joining Reneé in screaming the iconic line ‘leave me alone, I just wanna have fun’.

After half an hour full of energy, excitement (and lots of jumping) as Reneé sang some of her most popular, energetic songs like ‘Mad’, ‘Kiss It, Kiss It’, ‘Talk Too Much’ or ‘Shy’, the artist took off her sunglasses and sat on the piano for an acoustic set of ‘That’s So Funny’ and ‘Sometimes’. We were mesmerised as we witnessed her powerful raw vocals, executing every song flawless and effortlessly hitting notes, sounding even better than on the studio versions.

During ‘That’s So Funny’, the crowd held up signs saying “We will never skip the part where we love you” and Reneé’s smile lit up as she appreciated the fan project. During this intimate set, Reneé’s fun and playful personality shone, as she joked and laughed about forgetting what song was coming next. She even played cupid to help a fan find a girlfriend in the crowd. But we also got to experience her most humble and kind side, as she expressed how grateful she was to her fans for letting her travel the world and asked them to join her in supporting charitable causes to help children around the world.

The crowd went wild for Reneé’s dance moves (some even followed her 'Good Girl' line dance), sang every fan chant (‘Yeah, your boyfriend’s cute’ – no, he’s not; ‘Yeah, he can come too’ – no, he can’t) and joined Reneé in singing a heartfelt ‘strangers, to lovers, to enemies’. She even walked along the barricade while recording herself singing ‘Swim’ with some lucky fans who got to experience her up close.

The night ended with her hit song, ‘At Least I’m Hot’, in which a fan had the chance to take the mic and sing the famous lines ‘How you doing, nae’, ‘Oh, but you look so good’, adding her own Dutch twist, leaving us with a fun anecdote and a confused, but amused, Reneé, who ‘couldn’t figure out what she said’. It might be hard to perfectly capture the atmosphere and energy in the room that night, but one thing is certain: we were won over by her talent, charisma and stage presence.

How lucky are we to have her back on 4 July for Rock Werchter 2026? Get your tickets here.
