New album 'SWEAT' out in May
Are you ready to sweat? Melanie C aka Sporty Spice is coming to Belgium on 26 October at Botanique to present her new album out this spring.
Before she was Mel C of the Spice Girls, she was Melanie Chisholm — an 18-year-old dance student discovering rave culture in the early ’90s. Mesmerised by breakbeats, basslines and the sense of freedom on the dance floor, she immersed herself in the UK’s emerging club scene before answering a life-changing ad that would lead her to global fame with the Spice Girls.
With her latest album Sweat, Chisholm reconnects with those formative rave years. Recorded between London, Stockholm and Los Angeles, the record is a vibrant love letter to dance floors, community and joy. Blending Melanie C the pop icon with Melanie C the DJ, tracks like the electro-house title cut — sampling Diana Ross — and the glittery disco anthem Undefeated Champion celebrate resilience, movement and the power of music to lift us up.
Both euphoric and emotional, Sweat also embraces vulnerability, drawing from personal experiences and heartbreak while keeping the energy of the club alive. Since stepping behind the decks in 2018, Chisholm has played iconic venues from Ibiza to major festivals, bringing her love of rave culture full circle.
More than 25 years after the Spice Girls reshaped pop culture, Melanie C continues to evolve — as a singer, DJ and performer equally at home in underground clubs and stadiums. With Sweat, she celebrates every chapter of that journey: the teenage raver, the pop superstar and the artist still chasing joy on the dance floor.
