Antwerp's Sportpaleis becomes AFAS Dome

New year, new name

The iconic Sporpaleis in Antwerp, having this name for more than 90 years will officially be renamed to AFAS Dome from September.

Dutch company AFAS Software will become the new sponsor of the venue, owning algo the AFAS Live arena in Amsterdam. The name is not the only thing that will change, but also some facilities as it will undergo into some construction in the coming months, like for instance to change the main entrance to the back of the building.

“We want this building to be able to celebrate its 100th anniversary in top condition in 2033,” says CEO Jan Van Esbroeck. “We have to make investments for that and that’s why we have marketed also the name. That is not with the greatest enthusiasm, but it will give us much more opportunities to receive visitors optimally."
