ALBAN is the solo project of musician Alban Sarens. His debut album, ‘To Break Your Heart’, is out on 12 February and is the result of a raw and reflective process turned into sound, shaped by grief and personal transformation.
During three intense years, Alban turned to his saxophone to make sense of what words couldn’t express. A musical reflection of mourning, sorrow, and the search for what love truly means. The instrument became his voice, expressing his emotions and thoughts through melodies that carry both sorrow and light. It is music born from absence, yet reaching towards a warm embrace telling you, ‘It’s ok, I’m here’.
’To Break Your Heart’ is not about despair, but about what can emerge from it. It’s a soundscape where grief deepens into growth and where music guides the way. ‘
His music transcends genres, always seeking sincerity, nuance, and sound with soul. His playing is intuitive, layered, and comforting. While Alban has often been the driving force or sidekick in many projects such as Sir Yes Sir, Stef Kamil Carlens, Guido Belcanto, Ellen Schoenaerts, Equal Idiots, Slow Pilot, Baloji, … he now finds the strength to tell a story under his own name, a story of connection and solace.
